The Carrier of Love as a Language: The Silverback Gorilla

395.00

In honor of Koko the Gorilla, I am so pleased to introduce The Carrier of Love as a Language: The Silverback Gorilla. Yes, Koko was a western lowland gorilla, not a silverback. However, I created this piece with her life and legend as a guide, and I wanted to commemorate her as best I could but with my own creative interpretation. Koko taught us language across species, and that love can come from any creature. To date I think I am most excited about this piece.

The Silverback Gorilla carries a clay vessel of peaceful and loving findings on his back. Dried moss, a large point of smoky quartz, an evil eye bone bead, an ohm carved from bone, a gyan mudra brass pendant, a golden pom pom, and a small point of clear quartz.

In his chest is a beautiful polished piece of malachite, surrounded by silver leaf. Malachite is a Warrior Stone, a Guardian of the Heart.

His back feet are particularly interesting: made of wire and wrapped with black embroidery floss. His hair is meticulously painted and took hours of layering fine brush strokes to create depth and realistic characteristics.

He is sealed with a matte sealer and his eyes and nostrils have a glossy shine.

Measurements: 5.5” long; 7” high

All sacred sculptures are very carefully wrapped. They come with a crystal card and a card holding the sculpture’s title.
