New to the shop! Swedish Dala Horses hand-sculpted in Paper Mache and hand painted with acrylic paints.
Dala Horses represent Good Luck in Swedish culture, and they are one of the most recognized pieces of traditional folk art with their bright colors and attention to detail. This is my version of one of my favorite folk art pieces.
Paper Mache Dala Horses are made from strips of newsprint and glue/water mixture. Several layers have been added to make this a sturdy piece. Horse is then hand painted with acrylic paints and paint markers to create a highly visual piece of folk art. My Paper Mache pieces are hollow and very lightweight.
