Tea Pets are a staple in tea ceremonies, often placed on a tea tray to soak up the tea and absorb its lovely fragrance. Tea Pets are usually made of natural kiln fired non-glazed clay, but since I work with polymer clay, I had to get creative.

My tea pets are made of polymer clay and painted with non-toxic acrylic paints, and left matte without my staple glossy sealer. To make these capybaras absorbent, like natural non0glazed clay, I chose to use stone. Picture Jasper is a healing stone that is also absorbent, and will soak up the coolness of the water and the fragrance of the tea.

Tea Pets develop their souls the more often they are involved in your tea ceremony, whatever that be to you.

Picture Jasper is ideal for grounding: helping people find their place in the world and feeling directly connected to the earth. This stone is also ideal for healing: a comfort stone that can ease anxiety, stress, and even mourning. Because of the latter aspect this stone is also said to represent the “Rainbow Bridge.”

You can also use your Capybara as an essential oil diffuser. Place a couple drops of your favorite scented oil directly on the stone and enjoy the subtle scent and a cheeky face.
